The East Loch Ericht Deer Management Group lies on the Perthshire/Inverness-shire boundary.  The area comprises mainly upland terrain characterised by undulating moorland rising to high mountains and corries at the northern and western end.

The DMG area is formed by the natural boundaries of Loch Rannoch to the south and Loch Ericht to the west.  The A9 transport corridor separates the Group from the adjacent land of the southern Cairngorms to the north east.  These natural and man-made boundaries provide clear delineation and a largely closed Red deer herd.
